Neither friend nor foeReader comment on item: [Saudi Arabia:] Not Friend or Foe Submitted by Elanjical Abraham (Hong Kong), Apr 15, 2003 at 06:48 I would take a step back in time and quote an old statesman ( Winston Churchill ) who said that nations have no permanent friends, only permanent interests.This is as true today as it was yesterday .The Saudis' national interests lie with us (the US) and their gov't will toe this line as long as it suits them. Judging by what is presented on TV, it is likely that the man on the street is a bit ambivalent towards our current policy in the Middle East.
