Saudis - friend or foe?Reader comment on item: [Saudi Arabia:] Not Friend or Foe Submitted by Susan Blake (United States), May 15, 2002 at 22:37 I read your article with great interest. I have been keeping a close watch on the situation in the world. It seems to me that millions of Americans are fully aware of the position (or lack of standing) of the Saudi Arabians in our war on terror and other issues. We are aware of the dangers they pose to the entire world. However, we have no base--no contact point--to rally together and express our point of view. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we Americans can band together to show our strength and speak up against the Saudi-Arab hypocrisy? Let's show them that they cannot say one thing and do another. I believe THEY believe the American people are ignorant. Let's prove them wrong! Who can lead us in the right direction to show the Saudis that we are not dumb, money-hungry Americans? Please e-mail me with suggestions. Perhaps we can stage mass peaceful demonstrations in various major cities all on the same day. Perhaps we can plan on cutting our gas consumption by, let's say, 20%. Or let's not buy gasoline on Sunday, etc. etc., etc. Let's hit them where it hurts. Someone, please organize a drive of the American people to stand up and speak. We are strong in numbers. Let's be heard.Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
