The Saudi ThreatReader comment on item: [Saudi Arabia:] Not Friend or Foe Submitted by R. Crockett (United States), May 14, 2002 at 14:42 Rival? Threat is more to the point. From the funding of and export of worldwide terror (UBL/Al Qaida) to the recent fundraising telethon for the Arab 'beard,' Arafat et alia, the Saudis have gotten away with bloody murder.Interesting that DP raises the 1973-4 oil embargo; this was another direct attack on our nation. That it happened without consequence to the perpetrator under an ineffective leftwing President whose ambition was to win a Nobel Prize (almost thirty years later, '‘Jimmy's' quest continues) was noted by every scoundrel with conquest on his mind. Under Bush 41, we forestalled the inevitable fall of the House of Saud. Under WJC, we played cat-and-mouse with Wahabi-supported terrorists operating in Africa, America, Europe, the Middle East (to include Saudi Arabia itself), and Southeast Asia. Today, under Bush 43, we fight a 'hot war' against "Terrorism." Ambitious phraseology aside (it is a war that might be better understood as World War III), we need to understand the exact nature of the enemy and his methods. One of our allies, Israel, is fighting one battle for us while the rest of the alliance attempts to ferret out and destroy the terrorist network worldwide. One cannot say that the Saudis are allies any longer, so in the words of GWB, '...either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."
