Unfortunately, as smart as you sound, you're still coming from the viewpoint of second class citizen. Maybe someday, you'll see that simply isn't necessary. The very fact that you still think you should ask permisson from your father is evidence that you're still hoping for male approval. Better you should ask him what he thinks, if you're going to ask at all, and then make up your own mind.

Of course, you're not the only woman who acts from second place, but if so many people misinterprete Islamic principles maybe it's time to reevaluate that religion (along with all the others). See the larger picture. Until you confront them men about their roles and how important it is to respect the minds and bodies of women, the closer you'll get to equality. Donald
