Most insightfulReader comment on item: Female Desire and Islamic Trauma Submitted by Suzanne (United States), Dec 21, 2004 at 01:23 This article is indeed more insightful than most analyses i have read on the culture war between east and west/ancient and modern/ muslim and secular.Fred, you sound as if you might well be a militant Christian. it's amazing to me how nearly all religions are used as a means of oppressing and heaping blame on women almost exclusively for sin. incredible, hypocritical and so, so backward. i now believe that homophobia and the huge opposition to gay marriage has its roots in the power struggle that men (sometimes unconsciously) fight to keep women from claiming equal status. i mean, if men can be wives - what will that mean??
