"Living a Lie" responseReader comment on item: Female Desire and Islamic Trauma Submitted by Donald (United States), Jul 4, 2006 at 18:30 Who says she's not a stereotype? If she follows in the footsteps of men, and those men think their demi-gods put on earth in the name of Islam, then once again, she's kidding herself. So are they. But the greatest blame lies not in her, but in the men around her. They are frightened of women. Why else the honor killings? Why else the clitorectomies? Why else the veils? And as for men living in other countries, they often think women are their property as well. But many of us men do not. We liberate ourselves when women are liberated as well. That's the one entitlement we all should have. Donald Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please.
