To AnneM : Turkey is a Muslim country but polygamy is forbidden by law

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?
in response to reader comment: Nuray, Please Provide Sources That Say Allah Permits Polygamy

Dear AnneM, First of All you need to agree that Judaism, Christianity and Islam come from the same source. Then I can provide required information. Only Muslims accept that Allah is God of all of us. That´s why the title of this discussion is "Is Allah God?" I don´t know your religion but as far as I know Jewish Bible allows polygamy. You may not find anything like that at the new one. Because Christians choose the rules that they like. Quran allows 4 wives for mens but support single marriages. We live in a man dominated world. They have tendency to have more wives in Muslim countries or many lovers in western countries. What is the difference? Polygamy is not a big deal. It is going to die soon. It serves only for family dominated societies.

In Arabic countries rich men want to have more children to govern their wealth with trusted relatives. They will learn to trust CEO´s soon. This is inevitable. As the economic power of women increase they won´t allow their husband to get another one. As you see this is an economic issue not a religious one. Polygamy only works during the war times when women/men ratio changes drastically. I see this is an exit plan. I can give you one good example- Turkey is a Muslim country but polygamy is forbidden by law.
