Does the word الله or Allah mean God or is it the name of the God of Islam?

Dr Pipes

Notice that the word الله or Allah is translated in the verse of Surat al-Nisa' 171 as: God

Well does the word Allah mean God or is it the name of the God of Islam? If it means God then why do Muslims recite the formula: لا اله الا الله or La Ilah ila Allah or There is no God but Allah instead of لا الله الا الله or or La Allah Ila Allah or There is no God (Allah) but God (Allah)?

But most damaging to the claim that the word الله or Allah means God is that let us say those that regard Satan as their God they could use the word Allah instead of the word God and why would Malaysia prohibit non Muslims from using the word Allah instead of the word God?

If we turn to al-Mufasereen we discover that the word Allah is not an Arabic word and in the case of al-Tabari he believes that it is a contraction of the Quranic word الاله or al-Ilah which becomes الالاه in 3rd century classical Arabic and the meaning of the word as per al-Tabari is THE God not God

I hope that one of your Muslim readers can enlighten us about the meaning of the word Allah with daleel wa burhan or دليل وبرهان or evidence and references
