You said that "Hard to believe a prophet who was illiterate and had no knowledge of law, communication, art, architecture, history, mathematics, etc. was responsible for great achievements in Arab civilization" You are right because he was just a messenger. He conveyed the rules of Allah to his own people. Quran is the record of the words of Allah.

Have you heard Hadith, words of Muhammed? He didn't want his word to be scollected or written on his time. If so there would be big confusion. Those sayings are collected Muslims historians like Bukhari after 200 years later.
