"What's new?" and "No threat"Reader comment on item: Iran's Final Solution Plan Submitted by Michael Sandfort (Denmark), Nov 1, 2005 at 10:47 Sparked by the Iranian president's statement I sent the following two short readers' comments to various Danish media on October 27 (without being published). Please find below the English translations. What's new? The Iranian president's statement on October 26 that Israel »should be wiped off the map« has led to sharp condemnation from countries across Europe and has been big news in Danish media. But why all this attention when Israel's destruction has been official Iranian policy since the Islamic revolution in 1979? The only real news in all the above is that Europe sharply condemns the statement. No threat It is quite odd that the Iranian president's, Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's, statement that Israel »should be wiped off the map« can lead to so much debate. The statement is harmless, as Israel is not to be found on any map in Iran or the Arab world anyway. So stay calm. there is nothing new under the half crescent. Note: Opinions expressed in comments are those of the authors alone and not necessarily those of Daniel Pipes. Original writing only, please. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
