Iran vs. PersiaReader comment on item: Iran's Final Solution Plan Submitted by Ian Mordant (United Kingdom), Nov 1, 2005 at 12:12 In all the comment re the recent threat of the President of Persia to 'wipe Israel off the map', one fact at least has been omitted.This is the fact that the country that used to be called Persia is now called Iran. And the significance of this? Only that the name Iran was chosen by the then Shah in 1935 to stress that his people were not Semites, like Arabs or Jews, but good Aryans. His target was a man much interested in such matters, namely Mr A. Hitler. I'm interested that the name has never been changed back; thus had the 3rd Reich renamed Germany say 'Arayanland', we can sure the old name would have been resumed after 1945. I think we should start calling it by its 3000 year old name - Persia; its language is still called Persian/Farsi after all. Some belated de-nazification would be in order.
