Daniel, thank you for the reply. Things are currently looking pretty grim with a sad outcome looming. It's true that a party is but a vehicle but, when you lose the one you have, you (and others of like mind) will need to build a new one. The support for Trump is such that many in the party will feel alienated if he is *not* nominated. So, one way or another, there is a deep split here. There is also a split on the Democrat side of politics so maybe the US political scene has come to a point of needing to break out from the rather rigid two-party system. The result might be chaotic at first but will hopefully settle into something more fruitful and stable in the end. We can but live in hope.
