Reader comment on item: There's a Name for Trump's Brand of Politics: Neo-fascism

Submitted by Alex (United States), Apr 8, 2016 at 10:08

Wow--WOW. The fact that Dr. Pipes as a professional historian--and a Conservative-leaning voter--has now pegged Donald Trump as a "neo-fascist" seems to me like a historical moment in itself.

I am no expert on fascism (though I do have some expert knowledge on Nazism and Islamism), and even if I were I would defer to Dr. Pipes' judgment here.

The only caveat I feel in reading this article and examining Trump's behavior is that Trump's personality can lead him to behave in a way that can be easily mistaken for a fascist style of politics; I do still wonder if Trump really wants the job of being President, or if he just wants the attention and acclaim that a successful campaign can bring.
