Trump Speaks A Truly Inconvenient, and probably Constitutional Truth

Reader comment on item: Trump: You Should Ban Islamists, Not Muslims
in response to reader comment: Banning Muslims

Mr. Pipes is a man I respect greatly, and think this site is a vital element of American culture right now. I just read this article on Townhall.com, and was going to comment there and correct someone who was insulting about this. Mr. Pipes covers with one of his addeda that the constitutionality is to be determined-but I feel that if in question, Trumps point holds for all immigrants, to include refugees and asylum seekers. For the tender hearted, be yet more tender hearted and take care of more in camps nearer where they came from.

As to the tragedy of offending the worldwide Muslim community-oh well. As Trump said-explain this, first. All of the problems Mr. Pipes notes on this site essentially support that the more Muslim immigration we have, the worse off we are. All of the problems that I can barely remember-why is Islam out of our official terrorism handbooks, FBI and other? Why hasn't the military PC blindness to a jihadist Officer not been officially adressed when it leads to a jihadist murder spree by that officer? Why has CAIR, after being labelled as an unindibted co-conspirator in a successful Terror prosecution, been given respectability by the President and many others since that trial? This is the tip of an iceburg of problems that I want to see adressed, and if it cuts the 13% of our economy down because of fewer Islamic business contacts, tourists, and students, we'll survive that hit. Look at the other side of that question-do we not adress this aspect of our overall immigration problem because we fear a few percentages of our overall 13% of GDP that is foriegn trade reduced?

The most urgent thing is assistance we need from foreign would-be Muslim allies, like Egypt and Jordan, The answer is to still reach out to them, but not to prioritize that to our need to, as Trump put it, figure this out. The time to figure it out is not after Obama spends his next several months trying to match Angela Merkel in numbers of Muslim migrants to Europe he can fly over here.
