Reader comment on item: Philadelphia's Burqa Crisis
in response to reader comment: Religious injunctions must also be subject to the golden rule.

Your post has nothing really to do with the "Golden Rule".

"Every religion should reexamine its old principles and determine if those principles stand up to modern ethics. Most religions have. But Islam has not."

In other words, a religion like Christianity. Which has been rendered to being meaningless. Take "sex before marriage". It was a major thing. These days. . . who cares?

"No one born of a forbidden marriage nor any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even down to the tenth generation."

23: 2 Deuteronomy [New International Version - 1984]

In the end - what is the point of Christianity. One's principles define Ethics. . . what you term as "Modern Ethics" is conformity to Secularism and nothing more.

- - -

"If a person asks me directions on a city street and I run away, I will be considered bad. If a person wearing a ski mask asks me directions on a city street and I run away, I will be considered wise. If a person wearing a burqa asks me directions on a city street and I run away, I will be considered islamophobe."

You were that keen to er. . . vent your negative feeling on Islam. . . it got in the way of your rationality. Ski Mask is something worn for a particular use. Whereas, the Burqa-cladders - wear their garment all the time. There is CLEAR difference.
