Abbas, the elected president

Reader comment on item: Which Way Will Abbas Go?

Submitted by Alon Reininger (United States), Jan 14, 2005 at 14:25

No matter how the commentators describe Prime Minister Abbas, he cannot deliver anything for his people or for anybody else including the self delusioned U.S administartion. The same thinkers who thought they could find WMD are now hedging their bets on this Arafat retread. Anyone who reads his doctoral thesis, authored in Moscow, understands that this man and many of his generation are a bit out of it. The new lot is much more determined and will not be easily pursuaded to cut any deal with anybody. They go for the house-israel!

The smart ones stay away from politics in this part of the world.
The smarter ones get a visa to a friendly country.
