No peace without justice

Reader comment on item: Which Way Will Abbas Go?

Submitted by Sami Aldeeb (Switzerland), Jan 11, 2005 at 21:26

Something is wrong.

It is not about a "Jewish" State, or a "Palestinian" State. It is about justice and peace.

"Peace will be the fruit of justice" (Isaiah 32:17).

Nobody will win if we insist on the term Jewish or Palestinian. We all are human beings, reagrdless of our religion. If we mean by Jewsih State, or a Palestinian State, a State which practice apartheid against this or that religious group for the only reason of their religion, then we are creating a discriminatory situation. We should exclude nobody because of his religion.

Unfortunately, the West and the Jews, by insisting on the "Jewish" definition of Israel, they have excluded the Palestinian refugees for the only reason of being non-Jews. If this is not racism, what is then racism?

The only possible solution is the creation of one Democratic State in Palestine/Israel, with equal rights for all, regardless of their religion. In this State Jews and non-Jews will have the right to live wherever they like. This includes the right of the Palestinian refugees to return home and build their 400 villages that Israel destroyed, and the right of the Jewish Settlers to live where they like. Both should respect one condition: no discrimination because of religion.

We should encourage people for justice and not for discrmination.
