The Right of ReturnReader comment on item: Which Way Will Abbas Go? Submitted by Larry Shapiro (United States), Jan 11, 2005 at 13:14 Dear Daniel, it should be understood, and I hope you will be the one to explain it to us, the centrality of the Right of Return to the Palestinian people. Every so called refugee has been issued a plastic key to the city of village from which they or their ancestors came. Every street and compound in the refugee camps is named after these towns. The refugees have been kept from putting down roots because of the promise for them to return. The Right of Return is woven into every cultural and family event. The whole project is administered by UNRWA. Abbas can not relinquish this project without telling the people that the Right of Return was a lie. He wouldn't last a minute If he did that. Thanks for all your wonderful information.
