in response to reader comment: more on flies and antidotes

Submitted by the Grand Infidel of Kaffiristan (Australia), Nov 28, 2011 at 20:41

I note that Mr Slayhy has made an attempt to justify the very specific claim by Mohamed in the Koran that diseases are found on one wing of the fly and the antidote to the disease found on the other wing.

Now - this is what it says in the 100% accurate Koran is it not?

Mr Slayhy initially claimed work by two German scientists and said that the compunds discovered had been further developed into AIDS treatments. Perhaps Mr Slayhy has not realised that AIDS is caused by a virus not a group of bacteria.

Now Mr Slayhy changes this to work I referred to in a previous reply - which he has referred to in a report in the Australian press. i.e. where the simple observation that flies do not get sick was further researched. The article shows that the initial theories by scientists were right - that the flies evolved to use antibacterial compounds to deal with the noxious environments they live amongst. Highly logical when you think about it - and easy to guess.

Nowhere in the article does it say that noxious bacteria were discovered on one wing and the antidote discovered on the other wing. In fact the article suggests that compounds were found on all external surfaces of the fly - and also in the gut. And nowehere does it say that these antibiotics were further magically refined into anti-viral drugs.

Why flies were mentioned at all could be easily put down to the simple observation that flies don't get sick - and then a guess that they may have some property associated with them that stops this. Again - something a ten year old could have observed and wondered about - 1,000 years ago - or even 5,000 years ago.

It will be interesting to observe the arguments Mr Slayhy puts forward to justify Mo's very specific claim that disease antidotes were discovered on one particular wing of the fly. I wonder how many jars of fly left wings (or right - we still have not been told) were hawked by muslim apothecaries in the vain attempt to save muslims dying from the squalor they were surrounded with in the middle east - based on this very specific but fraudulent claim.
