No Palestinian State - Yet
Reader comment on item: Salam Fayyad Says Yes to Jews Living in a Palestinian State

The Palestinians Do Not Deserve a Palestinian State – Yet.

The world has been held hostage by the uncompromising Arabs strategy to eliminate Israel rather than accepting the two state solution.

Jews have lived in Israel for over 3,500 years and endured being conquered, slaughtered and expelled from their land. All the nations who conquered Israel over the years never claimed it as their homeland. It has only been a Jewish homeland.

There have been organized, active Jewish efforts to resettle the land since the 1700's. In 1799 Napoleon issued a letter offering the land as a homeland to the Jews under French protection. The land remained virtually uninhabited and in fact the first census in Jerusalem in 1844 shows 7120 Jews, 5760 Muslims, 3390 Christians. Then the Ottoman Empire restricted Jewish immigration and settled the land with Arabs in the early 20th century which increased the Arab population in response to Jewish immigration and efforts to buy land to settle. In 1948, the world community with justification created Israel and the Palestinians were offered a Palestinian state. Instead they chose war. Until 1967 Arabs held the West Bank, Gaza and half of Jerusalem and could have created a Palestinian state.

Palestinians use the argument that they have been displaced which validates the argument that if you are forcibly expelled it should not mitigate your original rights to the land. Therefore, Jews being forcibly expelled several times over thousands of years should not negate their original and continuing rights. Every other country in the world that has lost wars has settled. Every country in the world except Australia has had their borders change. Palestine never even existed as a country.

Most of the Arab countries were also created in the early 20th century. The Arab strategy has resulted in created poverty, death and misery for Palestinians, costing billions, created terrorism..... for 61 years. The choice – a state and prosperity vs. continued death, wars, poverty and destruction. All the while many of their Arab brothers were living a lavish lifestyle. The world thirst for oil transferred trillions of US dollars from America to Arabs.

The world wants a better life for Palestinians but that has not been the priority of Arab leaders and now taken up by Islamic religious extremists such as Hamas, Hezbollah, Al Qaeda, Iran and Syria. The threat continues against Israel as again Hezbollah builds arm caches in southern Lebanon, Hamas smuggles arms into Gaza from Iran and Iran continues their nuclear weapon program, all with the tacit approval of the world community and press.

The Arab world should not make the same mistake as they did in 1948.

Jews had been through a six million deaths holocaust and had their backs to the wall (sea) to fight for survival. Is it unreasonable to assume that those with their back to the wall fighting for pure survival would win? Even today, why do you think there is so much destruction when Israel is threatened? Israel has no choice. Why do you think Israel has nuclear weapons?

Arabs have to stop their 61 year strategy to destroy Israel based on the untruth that Jews have no claim on the land and that it only belongs to Palestinians. Until such time as the world forces Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Syria to accept Israel, Israel should do everything they deem necessary to ensure their survival. This includes expanding settlements, taking out Iran nuclear production or stopping the creation of a Palestinian state.

The Palestinians should only get their state when they join with Israelis to stop Islamic extremists and commit to the principle of "two people, two nations who have thousands of years of shared history to this land recognizing each other's legitimate right to this land and sharing this land in peace together".

Respectfully,
