It Depends on the Definition of "State"

Reader comment on item: Salam Fayyad Says Yes to Jews Living in a Palestinian State?

Submitted by Jared (United States), Jul 9, 2009 at 16:57

Woolsey's question used the ambiguous term "Palestinian state" without defining the boundaries of such as state.

Fayyad responded: "In fact the kind of state that we want to have, that we aspire to have, is one that would definitely espouse high values of tolerance, co-existence, mutual respect and deference to all cultures, religions."

This has been the PA/PLO cant for decades about a single, secular Palestine. Until the Palestinians agree to a Jewish state of Israel, I would look at such statements as consistent with "from river to sea."
