Reader comment on item: Stop the NYC Madrassa

Submitted by Elyse (United States), May 15, 2008 at 00:31

New York, like the rest of the United States, is composed primarily of immigrants and children of immigrants. As such, we have no right to discriminate against one particular group just because the extremist members- who do not follow the same credo as the rest- have taken it upon themselves to abuse the freedoms of this country. Madrassas are schools, intifada is revolution (we had one ourselves, you know) and the explanation of a word is *not* a "gratuitous apology." It is time to rethink our attitude towards Islamic culture and the hostility that has lately been shown towards emigrants and descendants of that region.
