Reader comment on item: Stop the NYC Madrassa

Submitted by David W. Lincoln (Canada), Aug 16, 2007 at 19:42

When people think of what is quintessentially "West", certain displays come to mind. "J'Accuse" by Emile Zola, "The School of Athens" by Raphael, "Ode to Joy" by Beethoven. In those parts of the world where the fusion of the cultures of Athens, Jerusalem and Rome are felt obliquely, there are equivalents.

However, when it comes to the part of the world that frankly has the most ground to cover for it to be a healthy society (I refer to the lands under the crescent moon) - the equivalents of what I mentioned earlier in that world; they exist in spite of the justification given to what stormed out on a mission of conquest 1400 years ago out of the Arabian Peninsula.

About the only good I can find of those raiders is a curious respect for the Virgin Mary. So, unless they build on that to take another route to the future - or they continue to spin their wheels thereby losing more and more ground as others expand the gap between them and the imprisoned who have the furthest to go to build a healthy society.
