Lets just be honest about Islam

Reader comment on item: Winston Churchill Compares "Mein Kampf" to the Koran

Submitted by Mark G (United States), Feb 22, 2008 at 10:37

Dr Pipes,

No government should ban Islam or the Koran, but we owe it to our ancestors and our progeny to discuss texts and belief systems openly and honestly. If it is acceptable to openly criticize Scientology, Astrology, Leviticus, Catholicism, Vegetarianism and NASCAR; then Islam should be afforded the same consideration. One particular belief system on planet Earth should not enjoy special protected status. Criticize it, denigrate it, laugh at it, mock and satirize it. Those who object have no place in modern liberal free human society. If Islam can't face skepticism, then there is something wrong Islam, not with everybody else.
