A war is a war. This implies a winner and a loser.
Olmert and its click play the no win no lose where the people and not the politicians are the losers. The Lebanon II war is a typical example.
At the end Olmert "no tactic" prolongs rather than shortens the conflict. Hamas would love to start some kind of insurgency. Now the US realizes after a lot of deaths, blood loss and billions of $ loss that they have just started to understand what happened in Vietnam the previous century and they (the US) act like if it was WW II in Iraq.
Massive pin point retaliation will bypass Olmert objections.
