Collective punishment is a violation of the Geneva Convention and International Law. One should also note that in 2004 the IDF ceased punitive house demolitions based on research that showed they were counter productive, and increased terror rather than decreasing it. Vengeance should not be confused with appropriate and successful military tactics.
