It is interesting that there's been a "chink in the armor", so to speak. When I first read "Uniting to Exclude Saudi Arabian Airlines", I heartily agreed with the boycott. Not, however, based on the Saudi's restrictions concerning Christian or Jewish Bibles, Torahs, etc. Just ban the Saudi airline period.
I'm a Christian, and study the Bible in the original languages, Greek and Hebrew (I don't fool around). Mathew 22:20 -- And He (Christ) said to them, 'Whose likeness and inscription is this?' 22:21: They said to Him, "Caesar's." Then He said to them, 'Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God the things that are God's.' It's not up to us to tell someone in a foriegn country how to run their airline. When we choose to use a product or service owned and opperated by a foriegn country, I regard it as arrogant to pressume to demand a change in thier policy. You simply have the right to not use thier service, period.
Why use the Saudi airline at all? I empathize with one of the reader's responses reguarding not being able to bring his Bible with him on the Saudi airline (he states he always brings his Bible, not to evangelize, but for personal use.) Again, however, when traveling to a foriegn country, or using thier airline, it's arrogant to try and change thier policy. In principle (this may shock some) it's the same as Muslims comming to the U.S.A. and demanding Shari'a law. Obey the "Law of the Land" or don't go to that land. America was established not by changing England; we left England and started our own government, which (thank God) separated Church and State. Saudi Arabia does not have this, and again, I think we should observe that and not try to change it; just don't use their airline, period. There's a catalog of issues to protest reguarding Saudi Arabia. Afford them what they don't afford Christians -- namely, Matt 22:21. And just stay out of their country. -JS
