The first steps

I concur. The first steps are nothing short of face-saving maneuvering (akin to the Beijing Politburo in response to dangerous exports). But, it is only the first steps of many needed steps to win over the skeptics. Islam does not have a monopoly over virtuous behaviour that results in the adherant crossing over to the land of the blessed when they shuffle off this mortal coil. There are at least two alternative faith traditions that are open, and frankly a lot has to result in the scales being dropped from the eyes of those who follow in the justifications of those who stormed out of the Arabian Peninsula 1400 years ago.
