Not so much the history of WWII, but the history of 1453, when Islam made the most massive attack on Christianity in its history and Chritianity was too busy fighting itself to respond. The Venetians were too busy trying to grab the wealth of the Byzantines before the Turks did, the Genoese the same, the Pope and the King of France had crushed the only defenders of Jerusalem, the Templars, because they had more money than either of them them and both wanted it more than they wanted to defend the Church.

It is the same today. Bush is sucking up to Saudi and Pakistan, Brown is in Malaysia praising them for practically eliminating the non-muslims, the EU is licking the arse of the Ayahtollahs. The Western world is mourning the death of the Emir of Northern Nigeria, the same ones who started the 19th century jihad against the animist and Christian South. Ditto Sudan, Somalia, Thailand and the Philipines.

This time though, there might be a difference. The leaders are are all crying appeasement, multi-culturalism, free trade, WTO and the like but the people have stopped taking it as gospel. Throughout Europe the so-called racists, neo-nazis, ultra-nationalists, all those who believe in their country and their people and their right to live their way are standing up. Perhaps only 10-15% today, but every Muslim outrage adds another few percentage points. I give it 5 years max before the big bang.
