Reader comment on item: What Are Islamic Schools Teaching?

Submitted by Lisa (United Kingdom), Apr 5, 2011 at 13:48

I have sat and read most of these conversation and all I can say is that I am very sadden. I belong to no religion as such, but have strong faith in a higher being, call him what you will, God, Jesus, Mohammed. I also live by very simple means, I treat people how I would like to be treated, I do not judge or condem, I will not take a life or mistreat anyone no matter what. This is a hard path to follow especially when someone is attacking your way of life / beliefs. Instead of arguing or causing a fight, I listen to the person, thank them and then put my energy in to something positive e.g. helping someone. So much time is wasted in attacking each other, when we could be putting the energy in to some good use e.g. instead of me sat here writing this, I should be sat with my next door neighbour who is in his 80s, keeping him company.

You just have to remember that your way of life is not for everyone, but you should not judge other peoples lifes either. As long as that person is not hurting anyone then let them get on with their life. People of different religions are never going to see eye to eye and a lot more lifes will be lost due to this. I just wish all religions could accept each other and live in peace - does it matter that your neighbour is different, no, all that matters is for us to be kind, positive and do our best to improve the lifes of others - doesn't matter if they are black, white, different religion ,gay etc.

Please let us stop fighting each other and lets live together in peace. It doesn't matter who started it, or what's happened in the past. Lets try and draw a line and unite against all these governments, media that try and poison us in to hating one another. We only have one world, please people wake up and let us come together no matter what our background is. Bless you all x
