It does seem futile to help, but I know this country was built on certain principles that are very important to us as a nation. Sometimes I think we're a little too optimistic or have a Poly Anna approach that makes us end up being used by our enemies who just see us as fools and our aid as proof.

Saddam and many other countries took full advantage of our tax dollars in the oil-for-food scandal. It makes me wonder how much really goes to the people who need it who are living under such tyrannical filth. Arabs are some of the richest people on the face of this earth. You'd think they'd part with some of that wealth to help their people. Those people should have some of the highest standards of living, but until they change their corrupt governments, they too will just be sucked dry by money-hungry, saddistic leaders. It's not their people we're having problems with. If only they could have a real voice, we would hear their cries. They, when given a choice, would have things much different.
