Unfortunately not much room ...for Tolerance

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Dear Diane,

Tolerance is beautiful thing. When people respect each others beliefs true dialogue and peace can take place.

However, tolerance is not a reality in every part of the world. If you read my comment called "wishful thinking" you will see what I'm talking about. Muslims leaving in Christian countries enjoy freedoms they did not have in their own. Women wear their hijab only by choice and not by force. Muslims are free to build mosque without any problem. Muslims preach their message without fear of any sort.

I wish I could say the same for Christians leaving in muslim countries. In many muslim countries Christians might face death if they preach the gospel to a muslim. Their churches are routinely attacked, some times destroyed by the government itself under some false pretex. Right now Christians in Lebanon and Syria are afraid because of the on going violence related to those cartoons of Muhammad. Some churches have been attacked.

The list goes on and on but I pray for the day when there will be more religious tolerance in the Islamic world
