in response to reader comment: Questions to Nuray

Dear Nuray,

when one reads about the history of Islam it does not take much to see that islam was spread by the sword. Muhammad conquered the Arab tribes by the sword and after his death the caliphs kept that tradition.

In the interval of one hundred years the muslims carved out an empire stretching from Spain to persia. All these lands were conquered by force. The muslim tried several times to take over Europe. In the year 732 they were defeated at the battle of Tours by Charles Martel, which saved Christianity in Europe.

They conquered by force all the Christian cities of Asia minor and large swaths of Byzantine territory which trigered the crusades.

The crusades only came as a response to centuries of Islamic conquest of Christian lands.

In 1453 they captured Constantinople and massacred the population. They were twice stopped at the gates of Vienna in their attempts to take over western Europe. But thank God all their attempts failed. The Christians managed to defeat the Ottoman empire which led to the treaty of Karlowitz in 1699. That's when the islamic threat was finally neutralized.

Therefore Nuray, history proves that Islam was spread by the sword not missionary work.
