Mohammed named God?

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Forgive my naivete, I have little knowledge of Islam, but how could a man, however righteous and endowed by God, name him? Doesn't that seem a tad preposterous? A man, who followed two apparently failed prophets (one to whom the name was revealed as YHWH) was given the opportunity to NAME God? That makes no sense, especially with the presence of Sura 29:46, which apparently names the God of Islam YHWH, same as Judaism and Christianity.
