Allah and God

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by Werner (United States), Jul 5, 2005 at 13:48

I think we agree that the Islamist interpretation of Allah has a terrible side to him but what about God?

If we look in the old testament one finds lots of terrible things which one would consider a crime when instigated by a human. A simple example: the destruction of Sodom and Ghomorra. We blame Osama that he tried to destroy NY (and hopefully one beautiful night he will be hanged for that) but what do we do with God? or consider Lot's wife who was turned into stone for a simple thing like looking back, or his daughter who seduced him the following nights because they obviously didn't want to go to their tribe to find decent husbands. Why then did he destroy Soddom and Ghomorra?

I believe that morals have nothing do to with God. He is neither moral nor immoral. He simply is. What ever happens one can blame on him if that helps.

Wars have been before Abraham and after Abraham, before Jesus and after Jesus, before Mohammad and after Mohammad. War is a human thing. Humanity exists since a few 100,000 years, internally nothing obviously changed.

In the Bible it is said, that Gods kingdom is internally. If one tries to find him there and goes very deep then there is no name for God/Allah/Brahman etc. It is so far away from everything one believes in that there is literally no connection between those worlds.

Whatever is outside the inside is human kingdom or if one wants to say the kingdom of the evil forces.

I personally believe, that the one who is worshipped as God as Allah as Brahman are aberrations of the real God. they are all wrong.

Consider a universe where there is a little remote dust-atom in a completly unimportant corner were almost unvisible bazillas make war against each other and claim to know God. What would you think? Yes, they are madman.

Greetings

Werner
