Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by m k joseph (Singapore), Jun 30, 2005 at 11:36

dear dr. pipes,

very interesting but it does not get us very far does it. at least insofar as the difference between the basics creeds of the three are concerned.

we begin with the old testament where we have the rhetorical question as regards cain and abel : ' am i my brothers keeper.' the implication is that one is.

we then move on to jesus and his parable of the good samaritan. and his declaration that one's neighbour is one's brother.

That seems to be the essence of Judaism and Christianity. one man is one's brother. be he samaritan or whosoever. in effect, the samaritan is my neighbour and your neighbour and the neighbours of all persons.

the above cannot by any stretch of the imagination be said to be the viewpoint of the islamists, who are imbued with the idea of 'an eye for an eye' or much worse.

and there we have a problem, don't we all.

kind regards,

mkj
