Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by Mary Ann Meier (United States), Jun 28, 2005 at 08:39

I've been fascinated to note the lineages of Christ i.e. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, King David, etc. and of Mohamed i.e. Abraham, Ishmael, etc. The former is a lineage of legitimate origin, while the latter is illegitemate. I may not pronounce judgement on either, but the text (Genesis) and history document the implications of both lines. This is simplistic in the reasoning, but I wonder if you have noticed and/or ponder the scenario that I'm describing IE God's covenant with Abraham (concerning Issac -- and the Jews) on the one hand, and Abraham's life choices (Ishmael -- and the Muslims) on the other. If you haven't, give me an ear and I will expound.

Yours,
Mary Ann Meier
