I remain unconvinced

Reader comment on item: Is Allah God?

Submitted by Steve Klein (United States), Jun 28, 2005 at 08:32

Still, I am not convinced that Allah is the God of Israel or the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (latter named Israel), even though President Bush insists that he is, or why would his practitioners be trying to destroy the tiny nation and its people? And why do so many Muslim parents raise their children to be martyrs or sacrifices to their deity? The words of this latest young woman, Al-Bas, who tried to blow herself up as a pleasing offering to Allah:

"I love Allah, I love the land of Palestine and I am a member of Al-Aksa Brigades.....My dream was to be a martyr. I believe in death ..... Today I wanted to blow myself up in a hospital.... I decided I would go to maybe the Tel Hashomer, near Tel Aviv. I wanted to kill 20, 50 Jews"

Isn't a god defined somewhat by its practitioners -- their sacred writtings, laws, hadiths, etc. -- to any degree?
