Reader comment on item: There's a Name for Trump's Brand of Politics: Neo-fascism

Submitted by Leon Kushner (Canada), Apr 8, 2016 at 10:54

Dear Daniel,

At best I'd say that Trump might show some characteristics of new-fascism. But to describe him as a new-fascist and to you his enemies like Hillary to back up your thesis... Much more accurate and to the point is to call him politically incorrect and on that I'm sure we can all agree. That quality is what the people are starving for. Most people including myself are sick to death of that terrible disease that can and will get us killed. ...

He is also bombastic and a narcissist. Although Obama is perhaps the biggest narcissist any president has ever been, his narcissism is based on nothing as he has accomplished nothing. Whereas Trump has many legitimate accomplishments. I would describe Trump as a bull in a china store. I think that's what the States and the world needs right now. Don't get me wrong, if the world and the US were in good shape and we weren't dealing with the real & ongoing threat of radical Islam, then I wouldn't choose Trump.

But when we are facing extreme dangers we must deal with them extremely. That means take the gloves off. Throw PC into the garbage. Yes he has said many silly things. But I urge you to look past them and focus on the important issues. The # job of any president is to protect his citizens. You have to be blind not to see what is happening in Europe thank to Muslim migrants. It's on the verge of collapse. He is the only nominee to declare that the US must limit Muslim immigration. He hasn't backed down from that. In fact he's doubled down by also having the courage to identify mosques as being the major hotbeds of muslim hate.

To me saving his country from jihad by immigration is so important that it supersedes any other policies I disagree with and so far there have been very few if any that I disagree with. No other nominee gets this threat the way Trump gets it and sadly although I usually enjoy your well thought out articles, ... Very atypical of your usual factual based articles you went as far down as comparing his looks to Mussolini.
