Reader comment on item: Lessons of the War in Gaza

And yet I believe that the best strategy in this war on terrorism is actually what Israel has been successfully using for years. It is important not to bleed yourself to death in the attempt to eradicate a group or organization that deals in terror, for that strategy might get you in a corner you don't want to be;the best is tire them out.

What I mean is that we can destabilize terrorists by not letting them destabilize us.And what I mean, create the conditions to make their effort less bombastic, less first page affair. For this is what terror wants, get a whole population in a paranoic state by an act of a certain impact, but in real terms, an act that is relatively innocuous to the health of the entire nation. For that it is important to put a real effort in countering their actions by using terror in their midst. Blow their places, their offices, the homes of their youngest recruits,so to get fear in those that might consider to enroll. The iron dome is an excellent example of a counterterroristic strategy:make the terrorists feel that they are not getting everything they wished, the opposite is true. The best defense is defense from attacks, not reactions to attacks. The reactions come however, but at spaced intervals, spaced in a way to get you a first page mediatized reaction, and the terror is on the defense. No country has ever got close to the results Israel has been getting in this war against an enemy without a face, uniform, commanders, nor chiefs.Bravo Israel, the world has to learn from you.
