Dear Mr. Pipes

Regrettably,the physics problem is very different for intercepting long range missiles than for intercepting short-range rockets, which are slow. Also, Hamas' rockets have none of the countermeasure features that play a dominant role in evaluating the feasibility of defenses against ballistic-missile attacks by a mature adversary. Iron Dome is a terrific accomplishment, but its success does not extrapolate. Many of us would would like a good BMD system, but wanting one doesn't make it easy to achieve. We already have a system for dealing with primitive attacks, but no one claims much for it.
