Reader comment on item: The Unthinkable Consequences of an Iran-Israel Nuclear Exchange

Perhaps more so from Iran, what is it with the nature of apocalyptic totalitarian regimes who use such poetic language to reminisce on hitting their enemy

we will eliminate Israel from the scene of the universe."

Our response will hit right at their temple."

Zionist enemy – will not dare take this cowardly step. This could spell the end of Israel."

They all know that playing with Iran is like playing with a lion.

If the Zionist regime makes the smallest aggression against Iran's soil, we will set fire to Tel Aviv."

Israel's leaders sometimes threaten Iran but they know that if they do a damn thing, the Islamic Republic will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground."

In contrast the Israeli language is usually far more restrained and judicial

"If necessary, we will use force. We could do it today."

"We don't need unnecessary wars. But we definitely might be put to the test. The non-diplomatic point is a last resort. The fact that all options are on the table is agreed upon by everybody."

We cannot accept a nuclear Iran. We cannot be reconciled to it."

And such..

I know Dr Pipes disagrees but this sounds like a "mother of all wars" type scenario all over where the ruling gangster huffs and puffs and the Western forces brace for apocalyptic scenarios (as a young boy growing up in Dubai, I spent many an anxious night watching CNN during the first Gulf War) but his fighting forces prove to be a paper tiger or at best a rabid raccoon-to be toppled over and kicked aside with minimal injury to the invading party.
