Iran probably IS saner than it seems, but is that sane enough?

Reader comment on item: The Unthinkable Consequences of an Iran-Israel Nuclear Exchange
in response to reader comment: Iran is saner than it seems

I would love to believe what TGGP says, and there is logic to it.

However, I have dread faith in the meta-rationality of Moslems to do the irrational and self-destructive in the name of Allah.

This really puts a premium on Israel's nuclear forces to deter if possible and to exterminate if deterrence fails.

I'm concerned that Israel does not have the capabilities to preempt this, and I'm uncertain if the U.S. has adequate motivation to do it ourselves.

It is an existential problem for Israel, but not for us.
