Reader comment on item: Another Islamist Assault, Another Western Cringe

Submitted by Roger McKinney (United States), Sep 16, 2012 at 12:20

Mr. Pipes, have you read the biography of Mohammed by Ibn Ishaq? For those who don't know, Ibn Ishaq wrote the biography before Mohammed's youngest wife, Aisha, died, so she was a major source. Many of Mo's original followers were still alive, too.

It's a very interesting and detailed account, but most interesting is how it puts the Koran's suras in chronological order and provides the historical background for each. Ishaq was a devout Muslim and honestly thought he was doing Islam a favor with his biography, but it is the most anti-Islam book I have read.

Mo was clearly a greedy, murderous, womanizer. His devoted nephew married a beautiful young girl that Mo lusted after. Miraculously, Mo received a sura from Allah instructing the nephew to divorce the girl so that Mo could marry her.
