Reader comment on item: CAIR's Assault on Paul Harvey

Submitted by Ray Quigley (United States), Dec 28, 2003 at 15:31

Mr. Sheffer, you (GE) have done irreparable harm to the concept of free speech in America.
You (GE) decided to cancel your advertising on the Paul Harvey program based on protests from a radical political group (CAIR). Your actions speak of corporate cowardice and an unwillingness to defend the right of citizens to speak their minds on important and controversial issues.
You indicated in your cancellation notification to the group (CAIR) that you would continue your advertising boycott of the Harvey program until you had done some investigation of the details.
It would seem more appropriate to have done your fact finding prior to taking such draconian action.
I guess I will have to join the legions of consumers that will just have to boycott purchasing GE products until we find that you have made sufficient apologies to Mr. Harvey.
Any suggestions?

Ray Quigley
