Misinformed about the Amana Academy in Alpharetta

Reader comment on item: Other Taxpayer-Funded American Madrassas

... My children are part of Amana Academy in Alpharetta and neither my husband nor I are muslim or speak Arabic. We infact picked the school since it was the one that offered the most diversity and had an excellent approach to teaching. Unlike many, we were happy to have our kids learn as many languages as possible - Spanish, Telugu and now Arabic. ...

We decided that picking any other public school in the area which would mean my kids would be in a school with 80-90 percent or more Christians which would be the same as them going to a school with 80-90% muslims. Since they would be a minority in either place, other factors, such as learning a foreign language from first grade, ELOB, differentiated education within the classroom and a great faculty dominated our reasons for picking the school. We have kids now in a very balanced school where they are receiving an excellent education.
