Reader comment on item: My Disrupted Talk at the University of California-Irvine

Submitted by Sharon (United Kingdom), Feb 11, 2007 at 03:53

Even Mr Pipes has not pin pointed what is wrong here. Of course we should all accept the fact that public speakers will be heckled from time to time and the art of speaking is to be able to deal with this. However, these particular hecklers went directly outside the hall, which was presumabaly still university property and there they expressed the view that Israel should be wiped off the map, that they use their tongues as weapons in the USA, but condone their fellow Muslims using other means to achieve their aim - i.e to have Israel wiped off the map.

This is the issue - a group of supposed university students condoning incitement to genocide. For this the FBI should be informed, handed the tape and action must be taken. Whilst it is right that all people in a democracy should have free speech, that freedom comes with a responsibility to ensure that you do not coax others to to join you in a mass murder plot. Furthermore this group indicates that there is a subversive group within the USA that incites behaviour contrary to USA foreign policy during a time of war to the extent that they are siding with the enemy - remember that US military personel are being killed every day by just such Muslims whose activities this group of hecklers condone. This is tantamount to treason and the perpetrators shoud be arrested and brought before the courts for this very serious crime.
