no freedom of speech in islamReader comment on item: My Disrupted Talk at the University of California-Irvine Submitted by Phil Greend (Canada), Jun 2, 2007 at 07:59 We have seen a lack of freedom in islamic countries and now this type of action is coming here. People in the west are being attacked for their thoughts and words , Salmon Rushdie is a clear example and Theo Van Gogh in Holland , and cartoon drawers in Denmark. It is happening far too often and we are doing nothing. When there were attacks against the book the Satanic Verses , it should have been bought by the hundreds by governments and then given away to people , just to say NO, we are not going to be controlled by islam. Comments are screened and in some cases edited before posting. Reasoned disagreement is welcome but not comments that are scurrilous, off-topic, commercial, disparaging religions, or otherwise inappropriate.
