New Spain was built on Muslim foundations
Reader comment on item: Mosque in Cordoba, Church in Damascus
in response to reader comment: Stop the Cordoba mosque

Submitted by SARAH (United Kingdom), Jan 22, 2007 at 09:40

Why such a negative comment from Octavio. All religions should unite and share holy quarters. The Christians had destroyed the Mosque. I had visited the Mosque in 2004 and felt sad at the result of what they had done. People from all over the globe come to see the beauty of the Mosque and even though they tried to ruin it's foundations they couldn't. Because when something built on a strong foundation it's hard to destroy. They couldn't destroy it as they didn't know how it was built.

The whole sewage system of Cordoba was created by the Moors, so thats ok for them to still use? Why not destoy that too. And Octavio what planet are you living on 'No Mosque in Cordoba' Hello!! It's there and always has been. Stop being ignorant and learn to understand the word equality. It's all Gods earth and all religions reserve the right to be worshiped anywhere and everywhere. Who are you to say No?? Do you know your own ancestors and who they were and where they came from? I'm a Spanish muslim so I would love there to be a unity of religions namely Islam and Christianity being able to share worship of a beautiful place that has been shared by both. Octavio get a life!!!
