Currrently the Cordoba Mesquite (mosque) is a church. Probably the bishop should not have inserted a church into the remarkable architecture of the mosque, but there it is. Before it was a Catholic cathedral it was a mosque. Before it was a mosque it was a Visigothic Christian church. Before that it was a roman temple. Probably before that it was some the worship site of some other entity.

The mosque builders used the Roman and Visigothic columns to make the mosque. So . . . while the site was a mosque, Muslims have no particular claim on the site. I guess if the remnants of a Roman cult of Jupiter would like to make a claim, we'd have to listen to them.
